There many people that need to be thanked that have made this trip possible.

First I need to thank my amazing wife, my girl Fred, Kathy Pelletier. Kathy's complete support and encouragement has been beyond belief. I think see is more excited about this ride then I am. To know that Kathy believes in  me will help make this adventure more enjoyable.

One day last April on a whim I went for a car ride to Saco Maine to check out this little touring orientated  bike shop. I went to look at the Rivendell bikes and after talking bikes and the utility nature of touring bikes I decided a Kona Sutra would better serve my needs. Jason and Mike built me up a great bike customized to my needs.
                                                                                                                                                      
A constant source of encouragement and resource for all of those little things you never knew you needed has been my old friend Jim Hartman. I am lucky to have such a good friend work at a great bike shop, Competitve Edge Bike and Ski in East Longmeadow Ma.

I also need to thank Tyler Samson from Competitive Edge for his technical support and his help boxing my bike for travel.

The folks from spin at Club Fitness in Scitico from the instructors to the "cool kids" all need to be thanked for helping to keep my fitness up during winter.

There are others that have helped along the way and I thank you too.

30 days

Today is the thirtieth day that I have ave been on the road. Currently I am holed up in Ennis MT at the Riverside Motel waiting out a storm. Today was rain , hail, sleet and more rain. Tonight there is a winter weather advisory for accumulating  snow above 6000 ft. Up to 12 inches untill 12:00 noon. I'm  at 6250 ft now. My plan tomorrow is leave Ennis and climb to 7200 ft just outside  West Yellowstone. There probably will be a change in plan. Here are a few stats from my first 30 days. Camped 24 nights Hostel/Church 2 nights Hotel/ Motel Holiday Inn 5 nights I know that equals 31. I did not include today's off day. I have been on the road 31 days. Of those 30 days I rode 25 days and had 6 days off including today. 1301 miles. Longest day 68 miles,  shortest day 37 very hilly miles. No flat tires and only one mechanical. On the road again

My five day vacation from riding, touring Colorado with my wife Kathy was fantastic. Torwards the end I was ready to continue my trip. I have come to enjoy life as a traveling explorer. Sunday morning could not come soon enough. Saturday afternoon I found myself with nothing to do. There was a park a short distance from the hotel. In the park I saw a friend Jethro. Kathy and I stopped to see if he was alright one day by the side of the road. Jethro is traveling by bike with his dog. He is not sure of his destination. He mentioned the dakotas, or maybe just heading into the national forest for awhile.  A real free spirited traveler. We talked for a long time about everything and nothing. Good luck Jethro. My first day back touring I did not ride the ACA route. Earlier in my travels a group of fellow tourist heading west offered up a short cut for my trip today. 60 day update

First a few stats 2580 miles ridden, 49 days riding,10 off days (five with Kathy off route) Camped 35 nights,  hostel/ church 11nights, hotels 13 nights(five with Kathy off route) This last stretch of eleven days riding with out a break is the longest I have had since the trip began. My legs feel it. Tomorrow is a rest day in Sterling KS. 678 miles covered in those 11 days. I have traveled from the open rangeland of northern Colorado through the Rocky Mountains of Colorado,  across the eastern plains of Colorado and onto Kansas and its wheat fields, oil ridges, cows and wind. I started this stretch in Walden CO.heading pretty much due south through Kremmling , Silverthorne Frisco and Breckenridge. The scenery continues to impress, and surprise wildlife adds to it. The next day it was off to tackle the highest climb on the TransAmerican Trail, Hoosier Pass at 11,542'. I have feared, no fear is to strong, worried about this climb the entire trip.
