I've come along way

" I've come along way, I've come along way I've been five hundred miles today and I've  never even left LA." Michelle Shocked.

I have come along way, maybe not 500 miles today and I'm  nowhere near LA but with a little inspiration from a song I can't  get out my head my adventure must continue. Again ahead of me I face a large challenge. Hoosier Pass at over 11,500 feet. After the challenges I have overcome on this ride, I'm  confident I will conquer this also.

Alot of time, and and even more adventures have passed since I last updated my blog. Hopefully I can touch a on a few of those memories now.

Kathy flew into Denver on Monday July 1st and drove north and west to meet me in Walden CO. We were tourist ourselves, drove around north central Colorado for several days and enjoyed ourselves immensely. Having never been to Colorado before we both where constantly wowed by everything. From Steamboat Springs to the rodeo in Granby and everything in between our vacation was more then I expected.

On our drive out of Walden we stopped to see if a wayward cyclist on the side of the road. We were  fortunate to meet Jethro and his dog. The had left Steamboat Springs several days earlier and was headed to see friends in the dakotas, I think. We laughed and joked and talked about the road for a while gave him some water and parted ways. This afternoon after being dropped off here in this crossroad town of Walden, (If you ever find yourself her don't eat at the bbq place) with nothing to do I wandered down to the park and Jethro and his dog where camped out. It was great seeing him. After enjoying a little bit of mother nature, we talked for over an hour. Having nothing, but almost everything in common, it was nice to spend the afternoon with him.

After a haircut and some some walking around in Steamboat Springs the car headed south and landed in Glenwood Springs, a neat little town that has capitalized on the tourist dollar. The is a waterpark on the Colorado River where there is surfing and kayaking. We went one day to Glenwood caverns Adventure Park. A top the mountain after a short gondola ride is a small adventure park and 2 different caves to tour. I rode the alpine slide a couple of times,  a zipline and a gigantic swing out over the cavern. I almost swallow my heart on that one. The picture is done below  the swing taken from one of the cave exits.

After Glenwood  Springs  to describe everything we did would be hard to do. I'm  just going to name a few, and let the pictures take over. Independence Pass, Byers Canyon, the rodeo, the large rainbow trout in a raging stream,Rocky Mountain National Park,Trail Ridge Road, and St Malos Chapel to name a few.

Kathy faced  a four hour drive to Denver today from Walden were she dropped me this morning and them a very early flight on Sunday to BDL. Thanks for coming to see me Fred, it was hard saying goodbye.

Bob,
Loving your blog. I'm jealous.
Keep the words and pics coming.
Do you say "tight lines" to a cyclist?
